IN MEMORY OF MISS PEYTON, WE PRESENT PEYTON'S PEACE

We are at the beginning stages of starting a non-profit that will provide other Michigan families that have lost a child due to a life-threatening or terminal illness with opportunities for their grieving family. We are doing research and collecting of ideas of what this will look like. Each family will have unique needs and ideas, and we look forward to being a "peace" of their story.  We hope to provide some peace and comfort as families face a new life, one that has no map.

When you have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness, the family is often defined by this. The family evolves around the child and their medical condition. I have come to find once you lose the child, life changes in more ways than you can imagine. The team of people that helped support your child also fades away. Families are left with an emptiness that has no comparison. The child and the people that your days were structured around suddenly are gone, and life is so empty leaving a void of nothing you could anticipate. I feel like giving a family something to look forward to is extremely helpful. We want to give these special families a place or person where they can go to and not feel alone as they process their loss and their lives as they recreate their family.

The opportunities that will be provided for families will come as memorials, events or special projects. We will provide the chance for families decide what option would best for their family. Your donation will go towards helping them create an opportunity that will honor their child and their family. Memorials will be made by purchasing and planting of a tree, purchase and placement of a bench or whatever unique ideas the family comes up with. Events will be opportunities for the family to attend a concert, sporting event or maybe a weekend getaway. Special projects will be created to honor their child in which the family can give back to a community that has been important in their lives. With your help and support we can help grant a family a way to honor their child while creating new meaningful memories.

Peyton was born 13 weeks premature on November 15, 2005, in Detroit, MI. Peyton passed away on January 20, 2023 after a short time in hospice care. Peyton had multiple medical conditions, including cerebral palsy, and required assistance with all facets of life. Despite her needs, Peyton had a remarkable impact on others in her 17 short years. She was full of joy and laughter; never had a complaint. Peyton’s only “boy problem” consisted of having 5 younger brothers, in which she embraced the chaos with a great sense of humor. Peyton never had any worries or anger. She was all happiness. She was a lover of music; her favorite song was “Old McDonald.” There will never be a moment she is forgotten.
